ABOUT DESIGNER

SFQuigley is a single female show. I live in San Francisco. You could almost say third generation.

Some history on my family: Grandmother Quigley was born here a Murphy, in 1906, the baby of six, and lived at the bottom of twin peaks until she married a Quigley in the 30's, and lived on 35th and Judah till her toes were turned up (she would have said) and they had a son which is dad to me.

At a young age I would sneak onto my mom's sewing machine and make small purses for my dolls. My brother was my partner by helping me thread the machine and placing books so I could use the pedal. Then one day I got in trouble because my mom wondered where I got a skirt that fit my teddy bear perfectly. When I told her I had made it, she didn't believe me and I had to get my brother involved to prove I wasn't a liar. That was the beginning of SFQuigley. I went on to study apparel design. After working 12 years in the vintage clothing business as a buyer, the urge to design took over and here I am.

In the future I would like to do more with clothing. My business is small and I work as a waitress at night to pay the bills. When you purchase a bag you can be assured it's of great quality and somewhat exclusive because I buy in small quantity. Usually there is less then a dozen made of each fabric. I'm not opposed to doing some custom fabric. I have done this for photographer's portfolios in the past.
